The upcoming mixed-use development at the site of the former Tanglin Shopping Centre — sold en bloc in 2022 — will feature a 1,000-seat performing arts theatre and contemporary art museum, slated to open by 2030.
Pacific Eagle Real Estate (PERE), a Singapore-based real estate investor and developer held privately by the Tanoto family, is funding and building the new world-class theatre with support from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the National Arts Council (NAC).
PERE had purchased the freehold site on Tanglin Road for $868 million, 4.8% higher than the asking price, in what was then the strata owners' fourth attempt at a collective sale of Tanglin Shopping Centre.
